30 Day Writing Challenge - Day Fifteen

Day Fifteen - A letter to your community

Dear Tertiary student community,

I am so happy to be a part of you. A small, insignificant part, but a part nonetheless.

Tertiary students always get a bad reputation among the older generations. We’re loud, raucous, and we can’t control ourselves when it comes to alcohol.

While this is true (to some extent), we are also resourceful, hard-working, and forward-thinking people. This world needs more people like us. We could try and solve so many of the world’s problems if we tried. We have so much potential in ourselves, and the fact that we’re at tertiary institutions (trying to build on previous knowledge) is testament to out forward-thinking ways.

Studying in Hamilton at Wintec is the most incredible experience of my life, and I appreciate every second of it. Even though we are constantly bombarded with assignments and classes, we still have all this knowledge inside of us, and I hope we all get to share it with the world someday.

This community has also led me to some of the most amazing people I know, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything. They’ve brought out a whole other side of me, and have encouraged me to step out and make my opinions heard. Thanks guys! You are wonderful in your own weird way…

Sincerely,
Tertiary student minority figure.
